Welcome!
I am Shay Kay, the Founder, CEO & Editor-in-Chief of Passioness Magazine, LLC.
A few fun facts about me:
- I’m an empty nester. I recently moved back to the golden state of Cali
- I’m a sucker for sweets
- I enjoy watching a good movie
- And my son and I think so much alike that we often are laughing at jokes that only we get
Life Before Passioness®
I’ve lived most of my adult life on the East Coast where I graduated from college and landed my first career job in corporate America. During my time in the corporation, I can truly attest to the fact there was no diversity. I worked with very few colleagues that looked like me. In 2002, I began a consulting business assisting non-profits with their operations, conferences, and membership. In addition, I provided coaching services to professional businesswomen in the administrative management field. However, I always knew that I wanted to eventually start a business collaborating with the women of color community.
Passioness Magazine was born out of my passion to write and create. It’s a space to not only celebrate us, but also to encourage sisterhood, share personal stories as well as collaborate on creative ideas.
Passion Meets Lioness
Passion:
Our passion is YOU following YOUR passion. Through engaging and inspiring content, we will feature women of color on every page pursuing their passion – travel, arts, cuisine, and all things that make us unique. We will gather within these pages to share, inspire, and encourage, all in the name of passion.
Lioness:
The lioness forms close bonds with her sisterhood in the wild. They hunt together, protect each other, and rely on each other. Regardless of background, experience, or status, our sisterhood will fiercely support, encourage, and celebrate each other through our shared passions, culture, and pride.
My mission is to inspire and encourage you to follow your passion. I'm so proud of us as a woman of color community because we are not hesitating to take a seat at the table. We're diving into entrepreneurship and doing a fabulous job juggling the hundreds of things on our plate while trying to make time for self-care.
